The key to our success and your quality and food safety: Vertical integration (breeding, hatching, raising, processing, cooking, shipping) and a hands-on approach to farming the natural way.
We are proud of our ‘Clean Label’ ingredients and the fact our ducks are raised on natural grains and fresh well water. We do nothing to artificially alter Mother Nature's natural growth cycle nor do we use any hormones or growth stimulants.
Our ‘Clean Label’ should be a KEY point of confidence when considering a King Cole Duck over other duck products. Here are a few other factors we know you will appreciate:
H.U.M.A.N.E. Animal Care
Under the personal direction of Dr. Ron Downey, DVM, MSc (and former Director of Animal Care, Guelph University), we maintain strict protocosl for the care and well being of our birds.
Ducks are raised in large, spacious barns for the ultimate “stress-free” environment with fresh well water and natural grain diet.
King Cole barns are monitored 24/7 by staff who follow strict Bio-Security measures to ensure the safest, healthiest environment for the birds. Our barns are cleaned, sanitized and inspected daily.
Water Management
As part of our commitment to be environmentally responsible, we re-cycle two-thirds of all our water. The remaining one-third is waste water that, when mixed with organic waste from the duck bedding in the barns, utilizes a natural method of decomposition to result in compost.
Product Maximization
We have perfected the duck farming process to result in zero waste. Prime cuts, of course, are sold in retail stores, restaurants and cruise ships around the world; tongues and feet are sold to Asian markets as delicacies; unusable organs are sold to rendering companies for use in pet foods; feathers and down are separated in our feather processing plant and sold to manufacturers of pillows, duvets and winter clothing and all manure is composted.
‘Green and clean’ are terms you have come to look for in the products you purchase today in North America. We think you will be pleased to recognize this is the way we have farmed for over 60 years and we are committed to evolve with this responsible practice as our guide.
