Founded in 1951 by Jim & Marg Murby and son Bob in Newmarket, Ontario on a 100-acre tract of land that is still considered the main farm. Today, the farm is run by third-generation family members over-seeing 140 staff on 14 farms that total 1200 acres through-out York Region.

King Cole is the only fully vertically integrated farm of its kind in North America: from R&D, Breeding, Hatching, Growing, Processing to Product Development/Cooking, Shipping, every step in the process is truly ‘in-house’ and hands-on.

As part of the operation, KC has its own feather-processing plant, water treatment facility, maintenance shop/staff, separate Asian-style processing plant, on-site Federal inspection facilities, separate product development/cook plant, and compost fields. see Responsible Farming

Each year King Cole produces approximately 2 million ducks that are processed in two product categories: Raw and Fully Cooked. Frozen Grade ‘A’ Whole Ducks have been the company's staple retail product for 60 years and *available in Canada in Loblaw's, Sobey's, A&P and Metro; Safeway and Publix in the U.S.

Raw products including boneless duck breasts, are traditionally sold to the Foodservice and Hospitality Industries (restaurants, hotels) although you will see them more often now in gourmet retail and butcher shops, particularly in Ontario. King Cole products are sold around the world to a wide range of clientele including the airline and cruise line industries.

King Cole's line of fully cooked products is now 2 years old. For retail there is Half Duck A l'Orange, BBQ Half and Peking Half Duck. The FS&H industries also use fully cooked duck products for their convenience and consistency of quality and food safety. KC has the ability to create custom flavour profiles and some restaurants and retail chains in the U.S. use product specifically created for their use by King Cole.

Open to the Public: We operate a retail store on the main farm that is open to the public 7 days a week. In addition to products you will find in traditional retail outlets, we also feature products favoured by the foodservice & hospitality industries including our famous Smoked Boneless Breast and Peppered Boneless Breast.

* Duck's availability. Frozen Whole Ducks (raw) are available throughout the year while other products may be considered "seasonal", depending on the particular retailer or region.
